Drostanolone Propionate Description

Masteron is a (now discontinued) European injectable preparation containing the steroid drostanolone propionate.

Drostanolone is a derivative of dihydrotestosterone, most specifically 2alpha-methyldihydrotestosterone. As a result, the structure of this steroid is that of a moderate anabolic/potent androgen which does not aromatize to estrogen.

Water retention and gynecomastia are therefore not a concern with this compound; as of course here estrogen is usually the culprit.

Masteron may in fact exhibit antiestrogenic activity in the body, competing with other substrates for binding to aromatase. This would reduce the conversion rate of other steroids,

When to Use?

Drostanolone propionate is most often used during a “cutting phase” or “cutting cycle.”

This period, often in the weeks before a bodybuilding competition or other sport event, is useful toward refining the look of hardness and density of the musculature.

Taking the steroid during this period helps, as long as the overall body fat has been sufficiently lowered prior to the “cutting phase.”

Drostanolone Propionate Dosage

Masteron should be used as part of a steroid stack, so that the user can benefit from the SHBG binding. Average dosage is 400-500mg per week, some experienced users will go up to a gram (1000mgs) per week.

Drostanolone propionate is particularly useful for athletes in competitive sports with weight groups, such as mixed martial arts, wrestling or other combat sports.

The steroid can actually improve muscular strength while maintaining or even lowering overall body weight due to body fat.

As a result, competitors using the steroid can typically stay in their weight class without difficulty.

Masteron as an Anti-Estrogen

Dromostanolone has some reputation for anti-estrogenic activity, but in actuality this effect is fairly subtle. If due to use of aromatizing steroids a steroid cycle would produce substantially excessive levels of estrogen, adding Masteron to the cycle will not fix that. Instead, an anti-aromatase such as letrozole oranastrozole should be used.

However, where only a moderate amount of aromatizing steroid is being used, Masteron can in many instances be sufficient as the sole anti-estrogenic agent.
